Bedstraw Hawk Moth - Andy Newman Images©

Bedstraw Hawk moth Pupae

Bedstraw Hawk moth  (Hyles gallii)

This attractive immigrant hawk moth, is a frequent visitor in the U.K. especially the south of England and coastal localities, in the U.K.  Moths are found attracted to lights and caterpillars, which are green or brownish with bright yellow spots, are sometimes found feeding on bedstraw or willowherb. There is only one generation a year in this country, the moths in my pictures were brought as pupae from a insect show, they are often available from collectors, butterfly farms, and insect stockists on the web. I hope to rear them from eggs one day, for my photography.
