For years I have seen this Windmill from the M27 Motor-way and always wanted to photograph it. spending so much time taking pictures miles away, forgetting what is on your own doorstep. This Windmill built in 1813 replaced an even earlier tower mill built in 1766. This Windmill, which was restored by the Hampshire Buildings Preservation Trust between 1976 and 1919. Is open to the public, every Sunday and Bank Holiday Monday. And helpful staff will be pushing the sails if there is no wind. You can view the machinery from below and above with its five storeys high tower. This also includes a short film about the mill showing it working a summer’s day. So far I have only taken a picture from the outside, as I just wanted a front picture to try and create a animation of the sails turning, did not like cutting out the sails much in photoshop or making some leaves to be in front, but I am pleased with the result. This Windmill is so interesting I am going to return for some more pictures on a sunny day, there is also a pond on the other side. Andy Newman©
