This attractive Butterfly was spotted resting on a sallow tree, next to a allotment in Eastleigh, Hampshire, Date: 28th September 2009. It is mainly an immigrant to the UK, and usually I only see this butterfly in the south when it flies past, or pitching briefly, I once tried to photograph one on sand dunes at Studland bay, Dorset without any success. This species is often available from Butterfly farms and insect stockists on the web. The caterpillar’s feed on Clovers, Common Bird's-foot-trfoil and Lucerne, and depending on the weather can have up to 3 generations a year.
