When filming in south of England I always see these butterflies feeding on flowers or ripening fruit, known for its white ‘C’ like marking under its hindwing, they have two generations a year, the second hibernate as a butterfly, and the tattered appearance of the wings, when closed, on branches is camouflaged as dead leaves. The Caterpillars feed on Stinging Nettles and hops, which are disguised to look like bird droppings, spinning small webs under the leaves.
