I spotted this freshly emerged female moth, in the New forest, Hampshire, you can tell this from the perfect condition of the wings, and how vivid the green on the wings are, as with many bright coloured moths the colours fade quickly. I photographed the moth without disturbing it as this could affect its mating with a male the following night. The caterpillars which are also well camouflaged look like twigs with buds and even change colour from green in summer to brown in winter to match the foliage, and hibernate during winter, they feed on beach, hazel and birch.
