  Mexican Red Knee Tarantula (Brachypelma Smithi)   

This Mexican Red Knee was my first tarantula I ever owned, I remember returning home from work to find my wife had placed the parcel in the bath, but she didnt have to worry this spider is very docile. that was 40 years ago and have been buying them ever since for photography, this female was Passed onto a Marwell Zoo Keeper in the end because I had so many pictures. The Mexican Red Knee is one of the most famous tarantulas and for many people like me started there interest in keeping tarantulas. It is listed as a endangered species on Cites II, so imports are restricted, but captive bred spider can be brought from most stockists.

Temp: 75 to 90f. Humidity: 65 to 75%. Habitat: Terrestrial. Growth Rate: Slow speed.

Origin: Mexico and Panama. Temperament: Very docile. Size: 18cm. Longevity:Females up to 30 years, males 10 years.
