Easily distinguishable with its pyramid shaped head of bright pink flowers, from which it gets it name, each flower has a long spur. The photographs above were taken on chalk hill grasslands of Farley Mount; can also be found on limestone grasslands. This Orchid relies on a specific fungus in the soil for nourishment so the plant can flower. Found from June to August throughout the UK except Scotland. Andy Newman Images©
