A common mushroom that is wide spread in the UK, found on well-drained soils, like neglected pastureland, roadside verges and grassy cliffs. I have even photographed these on the side of St Catherine’s Hill, chalk grassland, near Winchester. One of the best flavored edible fungi, can be found solitary or in groups and sometimes in fairy rings.
