Peacock Butterfly (Inachis Io)

I always enjoy photographing this pretty butterfly, this butterfly looks nice with its colourful large eyed spots, making it suitable on most backgrounds. This Species has one generation a year, the butterflies hibernate through the winter in rock crevices, hollow trees etc, I have found them hibernating in my garage and shed in the past. The Caterpillars feed gregariously, primarily on Common Stinging Nettle.
