This moth is often found in my mercury moth trap, but in the wild I often see the strange looking larvae feeding on Sallow, they will also feed on willow and poplar, I also have photographed many different colour forms of the larvae, there are two generations a year. The moth with its pebble-shaped markings from where it gets its name are very well camouflaged.
